UNIQUE HISTORY OF THIS 1996 GT-R R33
This 1996 Nissan Skyline GT-R R33 has had 2 previous owners. and a unique history. The original owner had a stock R33 Skyline and the engine went out at 97,000 Km in 2002. The higher performance Nür Engine, made for the R34 had just been introduced. The owner went to Nissan, complained, and was able to get a Nür engine installed by Nissan in this R33 in 2002 as a replacement for the stock engine. At that time he also upgraded the entire car, suspension, exhaust, turbos, clutch, oil baffles, camshaft, intercooler, weld spots, and this unique car was born. The second owner was the owner of a detailer shop. He kept the car in perfect condition and showed it all the famous Japanese enthusiast spots. Currently the car shows 140,000 Km (90 K miles) on the odometer, only 47,000 Km (29 K miles ) are on the new engine since 2002. This is the only factory installed and modified R34 Nür Engine in a R33 car that we know if. This is a true 1 of 1 car. Our R33 Skyline is rated at 510 horsepower (can go to 560) and is comparable to the very rare and expensive 400R Skyline which has only 400 hp.
ABOUT THE Nür ENGINE
A total of 1,003 Nür engines were produced for the 2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R. These engines were based on the N1 racing specification and were factory-balanced for higher performance than standard RB26DETT engines. The engines were designated for the final, limited-edition R34 GT-R models.
The Nür engine featured several upgrades over the standard R34 GT-R's RB26DETT engine:
• N1-specification: The engines were built using the higher-spec N1 block, which has thicker cylinder walls for improved durability.
• High-precision balancing: Internal components such as the pistons, connecting rods, and crankshaft were precisely balanced and weight-matched from the factory.
• Upgraded turbos: The stock ceramic turbocharger blades were replaced with steel versions for improved durability under higher boost pressures.
• Distinctive appearance: Nür engines were fitted with gold-colored valve covers and a gold VIN plate, differentiating them from other GT-R models.
BREIF MODEL HISTORY
The 4th generation GT-R33 was an evolution of the previous R32 model with various performance and reliability upgrades. It was introduced in 1995 and continued in production thru 1998. The V-Spec offered sportier suspension and featured the ATTESA E-TS pro AWD system. It was renowned for both the outstanding performance and excellent handling.
Quarter mile runs are in the high 13 second range and 0-60 covered in under 5 seconds .. outstanding numbers for the period. Nissan took the GT-R V-Spec to the Nürburgring circuit and set the first lap ever under 8 minutes establishing a new record for the class.
